There's only one creek crossing to get to the hot springs but it is rugged. Most of the trail consisted of rock cairns and game trails.

Start off by crossing the river if it is not flowing too swift for you. From there, you'll climb your buns off as you navigate the switchbacks of this old military road up and onto the rim of a large mesa. From there its rock cairn leap frog as you traverse a mild slope to find your way down a steep and twisting ravine that meets up with 3 Forks Trail less than 1/2 a mile from the hot springs. Continue on that trail to reach the hot springs, then return the way that you came to get back to the trailhead.
