This trail can be connected with the Wincopin Green Trail and Wincopin Blue Trail for longer trail runs.

The Wincopin Trail is located at the confluence of the Little Patuxent and Middle Patuxent River. The Red Trail is the main trail from the entrance and is well-marked. It is an out and back with a small loop at the end. The Red Trail is mostly dirt/sand with a few sections of rocks and roots. There is one section where you'll run along a ridge with the Little Patuxent River on both sides. The run is completely within a forest and is shaded.

Occasional snake and river wildlife.
