Runner Notes

The footing on this trail can be rocky and uneven, so be sure to watch your step. At certain points, the trail drops off sharply to one side, so make sure to stay close to the uphill side of the trail.

Description

Castle Rock Trail provides visitors with a stunning experience amidst towering walls of stone. Be sure to watch your footing on this trail, as the trail surface is often uneven and can drop off steeply.

This trail can be combined with the Grandview Rim Trail for a one mile circuit, first giving runners hands-on experience with the steep cliffs lending the Castle Rock Trail its name. The extra effort is worthwhile, as the clifftops offer gorgeous views of the New River Gorge.
