A solid singletrack run from the La Quinta cove with a great climb and downhill.

Description

Like most of the trails in the Coachella Valley, this one is rocky and very hot. It has a good 3.5-mile climb with 1,500 ft of elevation gained. However, the views from the top make the climb well worth the effort.

There are a couple of short branches off of the main trail during the first half of the run that are worth exploring. Take Jefferson Street to the La Quinta Cove to Lake Cahuilla Trail that will bring you back to the start.

It’s about 2 miles from the parking to the actual Boo Hoff metal sign. Sand at a slight incline until you get there then a fun hike up.

Nice trail for a run. Ran up 3.5 miles and then reversed the route. Parked at the Cove parking area. Trail is well marked and the views are great. 7mi

I recommend going to the peak and back. It’s a little over 7 miles. If you follow it around to the lake you end up on the road and then the lake/cove trail which I was told is mostly gravel road. It’s about 2 miles from the parking lot to the big metal Boo Hoff sign and then a fun and sometimes pretty steep trip up the rocks with beautiful views. Tons of trails off of Boo Hoff that aren’t marked on the map. Lots of mountain bikers out there too. I went before the sun came up so it was very peaceful and got to see the sunrise. If you go later in the morning there might be a lot of people on the trails. Nov 24, 2018
