The Maitland Trail
is a beautiful and challenging hiking trail the follows the Maitland River from Goderich Ontario on the shore of Lake Huron to the village of Auburn Ontario. Racers will travel between the two towns in a challenging route.
There are many sections that are covered with roots and rocks. After it rains these areas become incredibly slippery and very challenging.
This trail is mostly singletrack and offers a great challenge for runners from all ability levels. in October TheBad Thing Ultra-Trail Maitland race takes runners from Goderich On to Auburn. The Maitland Trail
is very well marked with white blazes on trees, rocks & sign posts.
As one of the only point to point trail races in the area, you won't want to miss this great event! Aid stations are located at the 8k, 16.5k, 28.5k, 36.5k and 40.5k marks, giving racers a chance to refuel and continue to crush this great course!
Runners will enjoy climbing on this scenic course, especially as the trail weaves in and out of natural preserve and along the Maitland River.
Flora & Fauna
You may encounter Deer, Coyote, Raccoon, Skunks and Wild Turkey. Bald Eagle have been spotted along the course. Poison Ivy can grow along the trail in some areas so make sure not to leave the trail.
