Description
Lodgepole is one of four trails that go from a major trail junction - J2, to the Nova Hut area and several trails that take one further into the trail system.
Starting out in the forest, Lodgepole begins climbing gently as it leaves trail junction J2. This is a short climb that rewards one with lovely views to the left/north. The trail then descends gradually back into the forest, and soon comes to a few well marked trail junctions. From here, one can choose their next step. One option is to head for the nearby Nova Hut and a snack break.
During the winter, as part of the Mount Spokane State Park's Nordic Skiing Trail System, this trail is groomed for classic and skate skiing.
Flora & Fauna
Pretty conifer forest. Deer and moose are in the area.
