Description

This loop is a great trail for the entire family. This short loop is a great way to take in the Sonoran Desert, and learn a little about the native desert flora. Signage exists in certain places identifying plant and animal life in the region. Hardly anything remains of the original Freeman Homestead, but the ruins still capture the imagination. Overall, the trail is just under a mile.

Please be aware that the trail drops into a wash for a short distance. Trail signage can be hard to see in the wash.

Close by is the Javelina Picnic area offering several shaded picnic spots to have a meal after your outing, and take in the surrounding desert.

Flora & Fauna

Plenty of Saguaros.
