“A challenging trail in one of the more remote sections of the park.”— Kristen Arendt
Shortly after the junction with the Marcus Trail, the trail starts to climb more steeply with a few tight switchbacks to help navigate the increasingly steep terrain. The next 0.75 miles will climb nearly 500 ft. before leveling out around the 1-mile mark. From here, the trail winds more pleasantly through the wooded slopes up to the Blue Ridge Campground.
This campground is a bit more remote and not as well-used as some of the other more popular backcountry sites which makes it a nice option for a quiet overnight stay. The campsites are located in a forested section where ponderosa pine and Douglas fir provide shade and a scenic setting.
Shortly after passing the campground, the Blue Ridge Trail ends at a junction with the Bush Mountain Trail.
