Runner Notes

The trail is consistently steep, and even walking down takes a toll on the joints. Pace yourself to what you feel comfortable with.

Description

Known for being one of the most strenuous trails around Lake McDonald, runners will encounter a steady incline and numerous switchbacks. The views from the top make this trail well worth the effort.

Flora & Fauna

You remain in the trees most of the time, before finally emerging above the tree line. Along the way you may spot some deer or even some bears. Be sure to make enough noise to warn nearby wildlife you're coming! You may find some marmots and ground squirrels above the tree line.
