Description

Take any of the other loops to get to the start of the C-Loop. If used as part of the Big Hill Trail Outer Loop, Starting from Big Hill Trail #72, D Loop, the trail follows a small stream and goes downhill until turning sharply to the left and climbs a steeper hill.

Continue to wind along the hillside and take in the pine trees while keeping an eye open to your right to catch views of Spearfish Canyon and the Black Hills. The trail intersects a logging road and a hard left is taken to continue on the trail.

The trail becomes sandy and leaf covered as you descend out of the pine and into the birch and aspen. The hill keeps heading downward until a clearing is reached which is the intersection with Big Hill Trail #72, A Loop. Follow this back to the trailhead.

Flora & Fauna

Deer, pine, birch, aspen, cattle.
