Scenic trails invite you to journey into the park's interior. Raven Rock offers a variety of trails. Travel them on foot or on horseback.
Description
This run starts downhill for 0.5 miles just remember you have to finish on the same hill. It is a leg burner. The first half works its way through some rocky and root-filled trails. At the half way point, there will be a really cool switchback where you'll get a great view of the Cape Fear River and the trail runs along the Campbell Creek back to the parking area.
Rocks and roots make the Campbell Creek Loop challenging the switchback at the 2.5-mile mark is beautiful as it runs alongside the Campbell Creek and returns you back to the main parking area. Now hope on over for another 5 miles or so where you can enjoy the Raven Rock Over Look, the steep stairs down to Raven Rock. Side trails will take you to the fish traps and a peaceful stroll alongside Little Creek as you return back to the main parking area once again.
A number of trails in the park traverse a variety of terrains.
Raven Rock Loop Trail travels through a hardwood forest on its one-mile trip to the park's centerpiece, Raven Rock. Wooden stairs down the face of the river bluff lead to the base of Raven Rock where the river bank provides a place to examine the area beneath the overhang. A stone balcony along the way overlooks the river and the floodplains beyond. Other trails offer access to fishing holes and idyllic scenery. For information on distance and difficulty, see the
park map.
