Description

The Morgan Trail leaves from the southern end of the Bear Valley Visitor Center parking lot. It traverses the hillside above the visitor center and overlooks the Morgan Horse Ranch pastures.

This is a working horse ranch used for breeding horses that National Park Rangers ride on wilderness and backcountry patrols. The ranch has trailside exhibits focusing on the characteristics, breeding and history of Morgan horses. The Morgan horse is the first American breed of horse. Self-guided exhibits, corrals and demonstrations are a part of the ongoing interpretive program of the ranch. Note: bikes are not allowed on this trail.
