Another great view of the distant "spine" of the Wind River Range. Seen looking east, the tree covered south shoulder of Doubletop Mountain is in the foreground.
New Fork Lake, below, and the Wyoming Range in the far distance, are seen through the burnt trees left by the 2008 New Fork fire.
A lot of young, healthy lodgepole pines in this regenerating burn area (2008 New Fork fire). Not quite tall enough yet, to block the views of New Fork Lake below, and the Wyoming Range in the distance.
The trail seems to drop off the edge at the top of the switchbacks that are not visible just ahead. The switchbacks go down to the New Fork River valley bottom.
The trail runs along the bottom of the rugged New Fork Canyon with its steep walls reaching to the sky.
