Heading back to Clingmans Dome, August 2017
The trail gets rocky in places, so watch your step.
While it's a nice downhill on the way to Andrews Bald, it's an uphill climb back to the top of the trail at Clingmans Dome Parking Lot. Thanks to the work of the Friends of the Smokies, rocks have been put in places as steps to help with this climb.
You can see the rocky, rooty trail as it works it was through the forest.
The trail can be narrow and rocky in places.
Although obscured by trees, there are great views of the Southern Smokies off to the right side of the trail.
