Addicks Reservoir, administered by the US Army Corps of Engineers, plays a key role in flood control for the Houston area. In addition, portions of the reservoir are leased for recreation purposes. Harris County is the operator of the Bear Creek Pioneers Park and the City of Houston operates Cullen Park. See "Visiting Tips" below for water levels.

Trail Status after Hurricane Harvey: As of December 16, 2017, Bear Creek Pioneer Park and Patterson Road are now open. Most of the trails are now passable and generally dry or just slightly muddy. As always, trails will be muddy immediately after rainstorms. See trail descriptions for more specific information.

Note that the Corps of Engineers may close areas to access for wildlife control operations. Look for signs at the entrances to Noack Trail and Miles Trail and please do not enter the area if marked as closed.

For more information about the reservoir, please refer to swg.usace.army.mil/Missions….

Visiting Tips

The water level is monitored at two locations inside the reservoir. The level at the outlet structure (near I-10) is gauge number 08073000; current level may be viewed at: waterdata.usgs.gov/tx/nwis/… The level where Langham Creek crosses Clay Road is gauge 08072800; current level may be viewed at waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv/…

During and immediately after heavy rains, the water level is dynamic across the reservoir; for instance, Langham Creek at Clay will be higher than the reservoir level. Once flows have stopped, the levels equalize.

Key Static Levels:
North Eldridge Parkway (lowest points south of Clay Road): 97.2' crown, 96.8' edge.
Patterson Road: 87.5'
