Galbraith Mountain is a very popular area of trails that backs the southeast side of Bellingham. The working-forest is really part of Lookout Mountain, but Galbraith or sometimes "Galby" have long been the recognized designation for this beloved network of trails. Efforts from the WMBC - Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition have continued to make Galbraith a renowned recreation destination enjoyed by a variety of trail users.

Local Info

The trails on Galbraith Mountain are built and maintained by mountain bikers and they account for most of the traffic. Runners are still welcome to explore the excellent singletrack, forest surroundings, and viewpoints over the city and bay. Note that some trails are only open to descending bike traffic.

Visiting Tips

Spring and fall are especially good times to visit the trails on Galbraith. And a milder climate means that the trails can generally be enjoyed year-round as long as runners comes prepared with the right gear and a willingness to stand for some rain.

Camping & Lodging

Bellingham has an assortment of hotels, but not many camping options. Larrabee State Park operates a campground and the couple who owns the "Dollar Lot" offers a few seasonal campsites on Galbraith's south side.

Food & Drink

There's no lack for post-trail food and libations. Bellingham is well stocked in the brewery and restaurant department, so your biggest challenge may be choosing just one to try. Visit Bellingham Whatcom County's website for a list.
