The trail is marked with signs and cairns, but it is still only faintly visible in several places and easy to lose. Route finding skills required.

Leaving Trail Pass Trail #3504, round a rocky outcrop then head up a usually dry but steep creek bed to a saddle. Short switchbacks towards the top ease the ascent a little. On the northern side, the gradient is much more gentle. Cross another dry creek, then parallel it on the right. Round a hill to the north and descend further. If you look to the south, you can see Kern Peak in the distance. The trail stays above Siberian Pass for about a quarter mile before it joins it.
