Overview
This annual winter race offers challenging terrain with tight turns and steep ascents. The course is a single 5-ish mile loop taking you on beautiful singletrack in Powder Mills Park. Each loop starts and finishes at Wadhams Lodge.
Description
The trail system in the park is dense, so navigation of the race course is difficult without GPS aid. The loop starts from Wadhams Lodge traveling south on the Powderhorn Trail (purple). After crossing Woolston Road, climb the steep "Ski Hill" before running up and down the ridges of the southern end of the park (orange and black). Heading north and crossing Woolston again, the hill named "Hell on Roots" offers the steepest climb of the course, likely requiring both hands and feet. Follow the Ridge Trail (green) and other trails to eventually return to Wadhams Lodge.
Flora & Fauna
The lower trails will bring you along the wetlands and through an area of unique plant life. Some of the fields are filled with ragweed and other wild flowers. The woods are filled with maple, oak, and many other types of trees.
