Overview

The World Heritage Trail is over 100km long and visits six out of the twelve sights highlighted by the county administration as official sights within the High Coast World Heritage area. In Häggvik, Norrfällsviken, Sörleviken, Rödklitten and Högklinten, runners are able to study the land rise phenomenon. The sixth sight is Högabonden that you can reach by taking a ferry from Barsta and Bönhamn.

Description

The trail consists of 14 sections, as described on the information boards placed along the route. Additional information on the terrain and the surface of the trail, accommodation, food and refreshments, etc. is available per section on varldsarvsleden.nu (scroll down for English). Sections 13 and 14 are also part of the Höga Kusten Trail.

The trail passes several nature reserves, 29 villages and fishing villages, and many sites of great natural beauty.

The landscape has been formed by 10,000 years of land uplift, following the last Ice Age, and is characterized by its deep inlets and valleys, lakes, and steep hillsides.
