The creek crossing can be dicey; trekking poles can really help. The trail just before the creek is cut out of a steep hillside, so watch your edges and keep your dog close. Once you cross the creek, the last section is easier hiking.

The sign for the trailhead is behind some trees, but if you watch out for the signs and the small parking lot on the south side of the road it's pretty easy to find.

Each year the trail starts the season with snow on it and the creek is more difficult to cross with heavy run off. In early June it's likely not possible to make it to the lake without spending a lot of time hiking in snow.

A moderately strenuous continuous uphill to the lake. The trail passes through lush pine forest, multiple aspen groves and flower-filled meadows. Dogs allowed off leash as long as they are under voice control.
