Runner Notes

As of March 2018, there is a warning about an aggressive owl in this valley that may strike at people to defend its territory.

Description

The North Trail is a good downhill singletrack that will take you from the main lot at the park down to Lake Washington. You run along a small valley through the forest, and into the more secluded reaches of St. Edward Park, which are reminiscent of trails in the Cascade Foothills.

The trail is well maintained, though it can be fairly muddy in places when it rains. You'll have to navigate some roots, rocks, and other typical trail features.

Flora & Fauna

Eagles and rabbits can be found in the second-growth forest here.

Oddly, the park has many examples of new tree growth taking root on the top or side of removed trees
