The Stagecoach Road Historical Trail is found within the Savage Gulf State Natural Area between the Collins Rim Trail and the Connector Trail. This trail can be used to make a 12+ mile loop by running the Collins Rim Trail, the Stagecoach Road Trail, the Connector Trail, and then the Collins Gulf Trail.

The Stagecoach Road Historical Trail was originally a section of a toll road built in the 1840s, and so most of the trail is much wider than a traditional running trail. However, after over 150 years of erosion, the trail is very rocky, not smooth or anything resembling what you might imagine a coach could have used.

Watch your step, and travel from Collins Gulf Trail down to the Connector Trail if you want the 8% grade to work in your favor. Though there are plenty of steeper trail sections on other Savage Gulf trails, the entire length of this trail is a steady grade, and running up it would be a chore.

There are no remarkable waterfalls or creeks, mostly just a quiet wooded path, passing over an occasional stream. Look for the rock wall that was built to widen the path along one rock face.
