The Candy Store across the street from the trailhead is closed. Park along the street where allowed and walk toward the trailhead. Busy during the weekends.

Description

Chiquito Trail is typically a shuttle because you're dropped onto Ortega Highway. You can shuttle down from Blue Jay Campground, or climb Old San Juan Trail to New San Juan Trail. Climbing SJT and completing the Chiquito Trail is doable, but very challenging.

This trail is full of places that you'll want to be smart about where you place your feet, but it's nothing you can't handle.

There's a long climb at the end, so keep some gas in the tank to keep from bonking at the end. This is especially the case if you rode up SJT.
