The trail is usually open year-round. However, it can be closed or made challenging by snow between December and March.

This trail is open to foot traffic and equestrians; however, it is CLOSED TO MOUNTAIN BIKES at all times.

Description

This trail leaves the southeast (left) side of the parking area at the Wolf Gap Trailhead, behind the sign and kiosk. There is parking here for 6-8 vehicles but no amenities.

This access trail descends through madrone and pine forests and open meadows to the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail. The trail surface is usually excellent—it can get muddy and/or slippery in wet or snowy weather—for its entire length since the Siskiyou Upland Trails Association takes good care of it. Preservation of its surface is the main reason this trail is closed to mountain bikes.
