Description

Prospector Trail undulates over a bunch of small hills. It's sandy in a few short sections but mostly nice track otherwise. The trail can be done as an out-and-back, combined with Church Rocks, and/or Dino Cliffs for a longer lollypop loop, or one-way with a shuttle car. This trail starts when you branch off of the Grapvine trail.

There are three trailheads that access this trail.

1) Highland Park: This is also the Church Rocks trailhead. Exit I-15 at Washington Parkway. Go southeast through the roundabout and then go left at the stop sign onto Telegraph Rd. Go left at the first light onto Highland Parkway. Follow Highland Parkway about one mile to the park. There is no sign marking the trailhead at Highland Park, but it's easy to find.

Leaving Highland Park, follow the paved road a short distance northeast as it wraps around the park until the pavement ends. Pass the large boulders blocking the end of the road, and run on some old cement. The singletrack starts just past the cement. After about a half mile, the singletrack turns into a doubletrack and passes east through a gate heading toward a large water tank. Before you reach the tank, take the old dirt road on your left (south). That road goes a short distance downhill to a large tunnel that takes you under the I-15 freeway. Follow the trail a few hundred yards. Prospector branches to the right, and Church Rocks to the left.

2) Red Cliffs Recreation Area: From I-15 take the Leeds exit.

3) Cottonwood Trailhead: Take exit 16 off of I-15 onto UT-9 exit.

4) Grapevine Trail: Take Washington Parkway exit off of I-15
