Runner Notes

A few pronounced roots, but the footpath is well-maintained and there are few chokepoints. The steeper grades make for fun scrambles.

Crowds: Most visitors are between the Coal Creek Parkway lot and the YMCA.

Description

This trail is a nice out-and-back that has a gentle climb on the way out and nice downhill on the way back to the parking lot. It has rivers, waterfalls, and nice, oldish growth forest, all of which are great escapes in an urban setting. The trail is well-maintained from beginning to end. If you are looking for a great trail experience close to Seattle, this is a good choice!

This is a great trail for hot days, as there is ample shade from the dense canopy and an ambient coolness from the nearby creek. There isn't much in terms of lookouts or vistas, but if you're in search of shelter and some quiet, this down-and-back route will provide.

Good downhill on the back half but parking is limited if you start from 119th — better to park at Red town trailhead 9mi

Dangerously muddy. Hard to keep a pace. Very slippery.
