Description

The trail itself is poorly maintained, but don't let that deter you. The views of the cypress swamp are breathtaking, both from the boardwalk and the trail that surrounds it. The palmetto undergrowth on the western side of the trail is also worth the short run. In addition to spotting alligators, you'll likely encounter other reptiles and a variety of feathered friends along the trail. On our trip, we failed to see alligators on the trail (in May) but did encounter them along Hillside Levee Road east of the trail.

Flora & Fauna

Blue-tailed skink, red-headed woodpecker, rat snake, cardinals.
