On this beautiful run, you'll experience sweeping coastal views to dense foliage singletrack to steep tall shady trees to shorter pygmy trees. The variety of experiences makes this area special. On the coast, the wind can howl and moments later, you'll be in a quiet, dense forest able to hear birds chirping peacefully. The temperature changes noticeably from the trails along the coast to the shade of the forest and over the summit to the northeastern face of the terrain where it's warmer still.

Follow directions to the Gerstle Cove parking lot. $8 parking fee required. There are pit toilets at the parking lot.

You can choose from a 9km,15km, 26km or 50km distance. Visit the race website for more information.

You'll start on singletrack heading uphill through dense foliage at times with roots. Get ready for a steady 1000' uphill to the meadow. On the first lap, you'll cross the meadow northeast and start making your way north and then west back down to the Coastal Trail.

Take the Coastal Trail south back to the start where you'll take the same trail back up to the meadow. This lap, you'll continue heading straight northwest past the meadow and then back down toward the Coastal Trail and back south to the finish.

Black-tailed deer, raccoons, coyotes, bobcats, gray foxes, badgers, skunks, squirrels, chipmunks, and field mice.
