According to the locals, this road down to the river ford was painstakingly built by hand by Chinese workers. You can park just above the rim, and begin your journey there. The trail was originally constructed for pack mules but makes for good running now.
Especially on a warm summer day, this can be a fun run down to the chilly water's edge and back out. If the water is low you and you are adventurous, you may choose to ford and explore the Roberson West Trail.
Just a short ways off the Idaho Centennial Trail to the east, this makes a great stop off for the night and a chance to filter some water for through-hikers.
