A challenging race from the sea to the summit of an active volcano.

The athletes will pass along the largest natural caldera in the world: the Valle del Bove, crossing the desert and part sciarosa Punta Lucia. The finish line was placed at three thousand meters (exactly identified through satellite instrumentation) just below the summit craters of the northeast.

The path of Marathon Etna, after starting on the shoreline, continues along the road Sea Snow down to an altitude of 1,800 at Provenzana Plan - North Etna through the towns Fiumefreddo di Sicilia, Piedimonte Etneo and Linguaglossa (all in the province of Catania).

The SuperMaratona Etna - a large international sporting event, the first ever made in the world - is a running race on one track, with the highest altitude in the world. After the start which is located by the Ionian Sea, Marina di Cottone (City of Fiumefreddo), athletes will be able to touch the summit of Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe.

The path climbs three thousand meters in altitude, slightly above that of the "mythical" 42.195 kilometers, corresponding to the distance of the marathon.

The race takes the various athletes from zero up to three thousand, ending at one of the most famous and fascinating sites in the whole Italian territory: the volcano Etna. This unique location, coupled with the extreme elevation gain, leads to a challenging race with a stunning end point.
