The Stapelveldt Trail starts at the busy Pantoll Trailhead. Head downhill towards the southeast along a deep ravine into a verdant, dense wood. Cross the T.C.C. Trail and continue downhill through the same valley filled with with tall redwoods and large sword ferns. Parallel a small creek that eventually joins others to form Redwood Creek. The trail ends at a junction with the Ben Johnson Trail, in a neat spot where two redwoods form sort of an archway.

The Stapelveldt Trail is named after William Stapelveldt from San Francisco who originally built the trail. In 1939, extensive repairs were made to the trail by the Civilian Conservation Corps (a New Deal program to put veterans and the unemployed to work after the Great Depression).
