Runner Notes

Some good hill work on the southern portion of this route.

Description

A pleasant nature path in a suburban area. Great to use when running the longer Ice Age Trail, such as the Ice Age Trail through Ice Age Junction and Badger Prairie Parks to the south. The grass/dirt Ice Age Trail follows yellow IAT blazes, but this section of trail roughly parallels a paved off-road bike path that can be used to make this a figure-8 loop (including a long hill section).

Don't let the University Ridge golf course fool you. This singletrack still goes through stunning prairies, dense forests and features some nice rolling hills. An under-appreciated treasure in Madison! Also, this is an excellent Madison-area site for non-groomed cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
