Runner Notes

Be ready to get your feet wet in the spring! You will need to hop across creek crossings on rocks all year round.

Description

This trail diverges from the Dry Creek trail about 2 miles above the lower trailhead. If you are heading up from the bottom, turn right at the unmarked split in the singletrack to access this. If coming from the top, look for a faint left turn only about 30 yards below the start of the Dry Creek trail off the Boise Ridge Road.

The entire trail is beautiful, with year-round running water and many different types of plants and animals to view. This can be combined with Dry Creek to make a great 13-mile loop! See the Shingle Creek-Mahalo-Dry Creek Loop for more details.

The trail is mostly easy to follow and it's nearly impossible to get lost (you would have to climb out of the drainage on one of the steep ridges to either side). That said, there is one point where you'll reach a small meadow where the trail seems to disappear. If you just keep heading straight you'll pick it up again in about 100 yards.

Flora & Fauna

You will see many trees and flowers. You might also see deer, elk, wolves, coyotes, sheep (watch out for the guard dog!), and any number of other animals.
