Overview
This is an enjoyable trek through a mossy, ferny wonderland to an impressive two-tiered waterfall.
Description
This level path winds through pleasant forests filled with ferns, mosses and huge fir and hemlock trees. Parallel Barnes Creek for a time before carefully crossing highway 101. Then pass the junction with the
Mt. Storm King Trail and turn right (south) at the intersection with the
Barnes Creek Trail.
The
Marymere Falls Nature Trail crosses several bridges en route to the lower falls which are only partly visible from the closest bridge. The water from
Marymere Falls joins with Barnes Creek before eventually reaching Lake Crescent. An optional short loop to the Falls Creek Bridge involves climbing a series of steep stairs. From this viewing area, complete the loop back to the lower falls and then retrace your steps back to the parking area.
