High water flow at the Arroyo Seco River will prevent crossing.
Need to Know
Free parking at the Arroyo Seco Trailhead. There is a two mile hike on a fire road to reach the beginning of the trail.
Description
Reopened in 2026, after the 2020 Dolan Fire, thanks to Ventana Wilderness Alliance volunteers.
On the east end, parking at the Arroyo Seco TH is free and uncrowded. A two-mile run on the fire road leads you to the start of the Marble Peak trail. Crossing the Arroyo Seco River, at the site of the collapsed horse bridge, requires wading. High water flow will prevent crossing. In the summertime, folks will wade upriver to visit a series of pools.
Traveling west, there are campsites and loop options north on Horse Pasture, Tony, South Fork, and Lost Valley trails. You'll travel through different habitats and get views of the Ventana Wilderness.
The west end of the trail is at the North Coast Ridge Road, which is open to running but not cars.
Flora & Fauna
The endemic Santa Lucia Fir can be found.
