This trail has not been properly maintained for a long while, which makes navigating somewhat difficult.
Need to Know
There's limited parking at the east trailhead, and at the west trailhead (if people are camping).
Runner Notes
Much of the benching has disappeared and it's difficult to run on level ground; watch your footing.
Description
From the east trailhead, off Route 2, the trail follows an old road. It crosses over a few woods roads and snowmobile trails before entering the White Mountain National Forest. Just after crossing over the first part of Wheeler Brook, look for the falls (on the right). Here, the water has carved a small gorge with some small tiered cascades. The trail continues to push through, following faded yellow blazes. It crosses over Wheeler Brook a few more times before it climbs to the height of land. Once you reach the pass (below Peabody Mountain), the trail begins its descent down the west side of the ridge. It follows a rough path that eventually drops you onto Forest Road 8 and turns right. Once you reach Little Larry Road, the trail turns left and continues to a Forest Service Gate.
