Summit Cabin is open to the public on a first come, first served basis.

This is a user maintained cabin and out buildings. Make sure to practice Leave No Trace Principles. Please leave everything better than you found it. This includes packing out all your garbage.

The Summit Cabin Spur is found along Mountain Trail about 24 miles from the Rock Lake trailhead. It is a well used path through the meadows of the Rock Creek valley. Mountains of the Starlight Range are seen to the southwest. Additionally, the mountains to the northeast are the Persimmon Range. This is a very beautiful, special place.

Summit Cabin Spur is basically flat with a slight drop to cross Rock Creek as one nears the cabin.

The cabin is reached after a short half mile from the turn-off along Mountain Trail. It is a beautiful, well-maintained log cabin with a grassy front yard, complete with a fire ring, benches, and places to tie up horses. This is big horse packing country.

Expansive meadows of willows and grass, but mostly willows. Big wildlife are around - moose, elk, deer, wolves, grizzly bears, and sheep.
