If planning to approach from the 101, then park in the small clearing opposite the locked gate that was once access to the now closed parking area 'Parcheggio Eremo di San Guielmo' as shown on Google maps. Enter on foot to the right of the locked gate.
Description
Sentiero del Mulino connects to the 101 at the old mill and to the 111 above the panoramic view on the 111. It has limited views over parts of Castiglione della Pescaia and the Daccia Botrona, but nothing that compares to the panorama on the 111, which overlooks the same area.
It is a fairly dull run along an unsealed road/track with some loose rocks. There are two reasons for taking it: firstly, to complete a circuit or loop with 101 and 111; secondly, it provides an alternative access to the panorama on 111 without the need to attempt the steep section of 111 between the panorama and the Eremo di San Guglielmo.
There are two switchbacks on the lower section approaching the mill. You might be tempted to take the 'shortcuts' straight down the hill but these are steep with loose sections; I wouldn't advise it - the switchbacks are there for a reason.
