Section Of
Need to Know
There isn't anywhere along this section (where camping is permitted), other than Lock and Dam Campground. This section is all road-walking; please use caution, and watch out for vehicles.
Description
This section of the
Pinhoti Trail is all road-walking and can be somewhat dull. It starts in Cave Spring and follows Highway 411 west, then turns northward (onto Mill Street). Follow this road until you reach Spout Springs Road SW, then turn left. Follow Spout Springs Road until you reach Blacks Bluff Road SW, then turn right. Follow Blacks Bluff Road until you reach the West Rome Bypass (Route 1). Here, the trail turns left (onto the West Rome Bypass) and continues to the bridge over Coosa River. There isn't anywhere (where camping is allowed) from Cave Spring to the Chattahoochee National Forest. To get to Lock and Dam Campground, cross over the West Rome Bypass and follow Blacks Bluff Road. You'll, eventually, see the sign for the campground. It's roughly 1.3 miles to the campground.
