Runner Notes

The steep hills have a layer of loose dirt. If you bring a road shoe, make sure they're grippy.

Description

An Excellent 2,000 feet over 2 miles, wonderful training to get your legs and lungs into shape.

When the paved sidewalk turns west toward the skyline trail, take the opening between guardrails over a wooden bridge and head toward the obvious steep ridgeline trail. Stay on the ridgeline for 2 miles until you reach a false peak summit (about half a mile from the fire road).

Descent:

Option 1: head back down the ridge line, this will require poles or some butt sliding.
Option 2: head to the skyline fire road and take the 6 mile trail down.

Flora & Fauna

Standard Santa Ana sights: black sage, lizards and ground nesting birds. I've personally seen a bobcat on occasion.
