Description

The path to learning trail is a nature trail with several learning stations scattered along the trail that provide information on the plants, animals, geology, and history of the Little River Canyon Nature Preserve. To access the trail, you can park in the Canyon Center parking lot and run along the sidewalk on the right hand side of the visitor center and down the hill. There will be a gravel trail that goes into the woods and marked by a sign that says Path to Learning.

The trail enters the woods and goes gently downhill. First, it comes to a kiosk where you can learn about the plants that grow in the area. Continuing on, there is a kiosk that gives you information on the geology of the area. The trail begins to turn to the left and works its way back uphill.

Next, there is a kiosk with info about the wildlife that call the canyon home. There are two plastic deer sitting in the woods off to the side, don't be fooled thinking they are real! If there are more than 2, then there is a real deer there! Continuing uphill, the trail comes to a small cabin with a kiosk that describes the life of the people who lived in the area and their impact on the area.

The trail emerges from the woods and returns to the opposite side of the visitor center. From here, you can jump in your car and explore more of Little River Canyon Natural Preserve.
