The dirt road may not be suitable for all types of vehicles.
Description
To access the parking area, you'll have to travel a ways along the Success Pond Road. There will be a small sign for the Notch Trail on the south side of this road. The parking area is 0.5 miles up this road. There's a large open area on the right; this is the parking area (though it still seems to be in the developmental stages).
Travel south along the road until you see the trailhead sign (on the left). The trail travels eastward, mainly following Shelter Brook. It criss-crosses over the brook a few times, as it makes its way up to the AT. At some point, the trail crosses over into the Mahoosuc Public Reserve Land (though it doesn't appear to be signed). The trail levels out, shortly, before reaching the AT.
This trail is entirely within the Riley Township of Maine.
