This loop around the basin begins at the Gessner, runs west along Brookriver Drive then turns north at the Beltway 8 frontage road. There is a low-elevation crossing where the trail turns east along the right bank of White Oak Bayou to return to the origin.

There are a few trees along the bayou side that shade the trail, and the woodlands inside the basin offer a distinctly more attractive view than some other drainage basin loops. The relatively remote location means that wildlife such as raccoons and skunk may be observed in the area.
