Need to Know
Street parking available on Deerwood Drive (at the trailhead), Candler Pointe Way, or Chevelle Lane. There are trash cans at Chevelle Lane, W. Dearborn Circle, and inside the park.
Runner Notes
The portion of the trail from Candler Pointe Way to Chevelle Lane was paved with asphalt by the City of Decatur in the summer of 2020. The remainder of the trail is soft-surface trail, so running the trail along the creek can be messy after a rain.
Description
7-acre DeKalb County neighborhood park on the banks of Shoal Creek. Trailhead is on Deerwood Drive, but there are several access points along the trail. Hikers can stay on the singletrack that follows the Shoal Creek or meander to the paved path to the west of the creek.
Flora & Fauna
Blue heron, barred owls, hawks, coyotes, brown snakes (non-venomous), and many species of amphibians, including snapping turtles and frogs.
