Do not enter segments of the greenway that are under construction. At Mike Driscoll Park and Arthur Storey Park there are low-water crossings. Do not use the crossing when water is flowing in it; the force of the water can sweep you into the bayou.

Description

Brays Bayou Greenway is one of the major urban trails in the Houston metropolitan area. It is actively (2026) being improved with road underpasses and access trails. Construction blockages occur frequently and can be seen on the Houston Parks Board map at arcgis.com/apps/webappviewe…

The trail begins at Archbishop Fiorenza Park just northwest of the intersection of Eldridge Parkway and Ashford Point Drive. The wide concrete path passes under Eldridge and proceeds downstream along the right bank of Brays Bayou. At Dairy Ashford there is a connection to Brays' Appendix to the north. This section of the trail to Mike Driscoll Park is entirely separated from roads, passing under both Synott and Dairy Ashford.

At Mike Driscoll Park the trail moves over to the left bank using a low-water crossing then passes under both Houston West Center and the Westpark Tollway before reaching an at-grade crossing at High Star Drive. There are two more at-grade crossings of city streets before an underpass of Wilcrest Drive. At this point, the greenway uses a portion of the Brays Bayou Connector Trail to pass under Bellaire, then uses a portion of the Arthur Storey Outer Loop to reach near Beltway 8.
A low-water crossing at the southeast corner of Arthur Storey Park moves the trail over to the right bank and immediately passes under Beltway 8. Emerging on the east side, the trail continues with an underpass of Beechnut Street and an at-grade crossing of Country Creek Drive. Passing Club Creek Park, the trail passes under the Southwest Freeway (I-69) then moves back over to the left bank by bridge.

After the Braeburn Glen Boulevard at-grade crossing, the trail surface changes to asphalt. This segment dates from before 1990 and includes at-grade crossings of Bissonnett and Gessner. The bridge at Gessner moves the trail over to the right bank. The trail then returns to concrete construction just west of the Fondren Road at-grade crossing.

Continuing downstream, this section passes under major arterials until moving back over to the left bank at Chimney Rock The trail runs between the bayou and North Braeswood Boulevard to at-grade crossing under the West I-610 Loop. About one-half mile further on, there is an uncontrolled diagonal crossing of North Braeswood. Be careful of high-speed cars at this at-grade crossing. The trail then crosses back over to the right bank via the North Braeswood bridge. [As of 2026, construction of a right-bank trail which will provide an under
