Runner Notes

Good even trail

Description

Just over a mile up the Chestnut Mountain Trail #458 , this trail turns right and immediately brings some solitude. The trail carves along the side of the mountain through heavy conifer forest.

As you reach the halfway mark you begin to get glimpses of the large limestone cliffs that stand above the other side of the canyon. The trail eventually runs below those cliffs and then officially ends at some climber trails that scramble along the rock. Sometimes the road noise can be a nuisance.

Flora & Fauna

Bear, deer and lots of conifers.
