This property is entirely within the Tuttle Educational State Forest (North Carolina). The park is gated and has hours of availability. There is a parking lot with facilities at the entrance. There may be other points of entry by foot. A paper map may be available at the entrance showing paths and other features.

Runner Notes

The forested portion has some large roots and steps. There are bridges that cross a stream along the way.

Description

Entry by vehicle is marked along Playmore Beach Road with a short distance to an open paved parking lot. The gravel road is gated and not accessible to vehicles. Park or enter and then proceed on the foot path around the gate. You may continue along the road or use the intersecting short-cut through the forest which will come back out onto the gravel road farther down. There are features along or around the route including a large gazebo, a primitive cemetary, a pond path, and controlled-growth areas.

Flora & Fauna

Butterflies and bees may be numerous around the flowers during times of the year.
