Heading north from the Snake River Junction Trailhead of the Columbia Plateau Trail you'll snug up against the Lake Sacajawea Flood Bar, a notable feature of the Ice Age Floods. There are dozens of old railroad spikes dotted along the trail, with other remnants of the trail's former life. The warning poles, where rocks would fall and trip wires, warning trains of upcoming slides, are heavily tilted over the trail in one section. The end of this recording is where we met a 50-foot deep pile of tumbleweeds and couldn't travel any further.

Likely to run into rattlesnakes during the warmer months. Bird watching for riparian species any time of year.
