Description

This trail leads through a mix of hilly oak savanna and flat, open tallgrass prairie in the Sheyenne National Grassland. This segment is part of the larger North Country Trail. This segment travels from the Oak Leaf Trail Loop easterly to the Grassland park boundary. At this point the North Country Trail will continue 3.5 miles further east, one miles over private property (use of this trail is open to the public), and finally to the Ekre trailhead.

The cows seem okay with humans. We did encounter a few standing/laying on the actual trail itself, which was a little tense (they're big!), but we walked around and didn't interact with them, and they left us alone.
