Description
The trail begins as a gravel lane leading away from a small parking area off Spout Springs Road with the White River to your right and 100' tall sandstone bluffs to your left. About 1/4 mile into the run, the Nubbin Ridge Trail splits to the left to begin the climb to the top of the bluffs.
The singletrack trail becomes moderately steep, but it's not for long, and the views of the river valley and town of Shoals from the top of the bluffs are a nice reward for your efforts. Keep a close eye on pets and children as the trail switches back to follow the top edge of the bluffs.
Eventually the trail bends away from the river and continues wrapping it's way slowly up to the top of the hill, and then gently meanders through the mature hardwood forest on the south side of the hilltop. The trail wraps around to the northwest, and then begins a moderate decent back down toward the gravel road along the riverbank.
Turn right to return to the parking area. There are a few fiberglass sign posts along the trail through the woods but there are no arrows, and no blazes on trees either. You must watch the ground to follow the visibly used path.
